Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!

We had a fantastic first two days of school. On Friday, we were able to run through a full day of our schedule. So Mrs. Graff's students were able to transition to Mr. Pontious, and Mr. Pontious' class came to my room.

The purpose of this blog will be to display all that is covered on a daily bases and occasional  weekly updates.

Here is a sample of what you will see daily:

**Don't Forget Monday is Solar Eclipse Day! We will be spending most of our afternoon outside.**

** I also sent home a Reading Log and parent letter explaining the reading log. Students are to return those with a grown-ups signature. **

Social Studies:

This week we will begin our first unit on the United States, states and capitals.

Reading:

On Friday, discussed procedures that we will be using all year.

Good Fit Books

These were shoes that I used to show the students how to pick books that both fit their abilities and fit the purpose given to read.

This chart was used for the instructions and will be posted, for the reminder of the year.

Read to Self

Next we read the books we chose in order to understand what reading to ones self looks like in my classroom.

Mrs. Bernot also taught a closed reading lesson. The article was for the Eclipse on Monday.

Writing & Language Arts:

We will be completing language lesson throughout our day. In the mornings we will have daily assignments for mechanic, usage and hand writing.
