Daily Geography
Today we completed our notes on the Anasazi Natives and watch the first 11 mins of the video link below... The students really enjoyed the video and we left off with a "cliff hanger"! HOW APPROPRIATE!
The Mystery of the Anasazi
READING:
We furthered our learning about text features today. Today's focus was on diagrams and how that lend to deeper understanding as a reader.
We discussed how seeing and knowing where Hurricane Matthew was, the size of the hurricane, and then comparing it to the size of Haiti, could deepen our understanding of the the devastation they are experiencing.
Then the students read the following article.
And answered questions about the use of the diagram to aid or enhance the readers understanding in the following questions.
WRITING/LANGUAGE ARTS
In reading we completed another activity with the article "A Day on Mars" (above). We focused on the authors craft and the purpose then the students were asked to use what they learned to apply it in there own Narrative paragraph (#4)
