SOCIAL STUDIES

REMEMBER- NO Daily Geography this week.

Today we completed the "Mound Builders" notes by viewing video clips and by reading two texts.

The First text was the article from yesterday:

They we read from out text book pages 90- 92.

We discussed the similar information between the two and how some of it was different or contradictory.

Next, before the video, I posed 3 questions for the students:

What are the four types of mounds called?

What the the mounds used for?

Is there any new information or contradictory information between the video and the texts?

We only watched a few minutes of each video. (see the captions for time frames we viewed.)

Who were the Mound Builders? Video 1
(Started at 6:28- Ended at 10:42)
Mound Builders Original- Video 2
(Started at 0:46- Ended at 4:00)

Next we completed the following notes:

Finally, the students took the information that learned and completed the fill in answers for the article and they were to write 3-5 sentences or fact from what they learned today!

Each student should have a picture of the mound site, Poverty Point. This illustrates the villages and mounds in their time.
