** Happy New Year!!! **
Morning Work:
Today we added a new piece to our morning work.
Also we did not start our new Daily Language. We will hold off until next week.
Writing/Language:
Today we each had the opportunity to share about our Winter Break. Then the students used that time as a brainstorm to write a sequential paragraph about their break.
They were to follow the following guidelines while writing.
- 1 paragraph with 8 sentences minimum
- Use sequence signal words: first, then, next, secondly, finally
- have a topic sentence broad enough to write 6-8 details
- have a concluding statement
Reading:
Today we started a little mini research project on Amelia Earhart. The students will be using multimedia to gather their information. We viewed part of a documentary about a new theory of her disappearance. We discussed what a theory means and how they is evidence for it and against the new theory.
The video can be viewed here: The Lost Evidence: Amelia Earhart: History Channel 2017 Documentary We stopped at 31:44
